“Monitoring the effects of Project PL0100

“Improving the efficiency of Polish Environmental

Inspection, based on Norwegian experiences””

On 11 June 2013 the seminar inaugurating the following projects was carried out in Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection:

  • Monitoring the implementation effects of Project PL0100 “Improving the efficiency of the Inspection of Environmental Protection based on Norwegian experience”
  • Strengthening the system of air quality assessment in Poland, based on Norwegian experience
  • Strengthening the technical capacities of Inspection of Environmental Protection through the procurement of measurement, laboratory and IT equipment.

The meeting was opened by Mr Andrzej Jagusiewicz – Chief Inspector of Environmental Protection, and then led by Mr Roman Jaworski – deputy of Chief Inspector. The meeting was attended by Mr Stein Inge Nesvag – counsellor of His Majesty Karsten Klepsvik – the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway in Poland, who wished successful implementation of projects and successes in achieving results. He also reminded about effective and highly assessed cooperation between CIEP and KLIF (Climate and Pollution Agency) – partner from Norway in Project PL0100, which was implemented under Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2004–2009. During the seminar the representatives of the Ministry of the Environment and National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management – PL03 programme operators, presented the main assumptions of the Operational Programme PL03 “Improving Environmental Monitoring and Inspection” and organisational structure of its implementation. During the meeting the members of project teams from the Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection together with Norwegian partners – KLIF (Climate and Pollution Agency) represented by the delegation representative, Mr Bjorn Bjornstad, director of Inspection Department and NILU (Norwegian Institute for Air Research) represented by the delegation representative, prof. Józef Pacyna, director for scientific affairs – discussed the objectives, assumptions and key actions to be implemented under the projects.

Voivodeship Inspectorates for Environmental Protection, apart from the Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection, will be the beneficiaries of projects results, as the equipment will be purchase for them and the procedures supporting the implementation of tasks imposed by the Inspection of Environmental Protection will be developed. The projects will be implemented in the years 2013–2015 and the total value of three projects will amount to over PLN 45 million, while the total value of the grant from European Economic Area Financial Mechanism 2009–2014 will amount to PLN 38.5 million.
